Magnetic Applications is a research and development firm based in Colorado. The Company’s management team brings decades of experience in developing high-performance alternators and controls for demanding civilian and military applications.
With support from the US Army’s Tank and Automotive Research and Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), the Company developed the proprietary, patented technology used in its High Power Density (HPD) alternators. Having been tested in challenging mass transit and military applications, HPD alternators achieved five times or more power output than stock alternators. Power output is at idle speeds of most diesel engines. During tests in an Army HMMWV monitored by the Department of Defense, a Magnetic Applications HPD 24-volt alternator produced over 600 amps at engine idle. The Company continues to work on a variety of military projects.
HPD alternators are currently sized to fit the diesel engines found in many light and medium trucks. Alternators sized to fit other engines are under development.
